Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a soothing plant that is used form is moisturizing and medicinal properties. It's been used as a medicine for thousands of years throughout the world, even being touted as the "plant of immortality" by ancient Egyptians. We chose Aloe Vera as an ingredient for it's hydrating properties, especially for dry skin. It's full of antioxidant vitamins and enzymes, healing and cooling the skin. Be on the lookout for products featuring this medicinal plant!

Argan Oil

Argan oil is versatile oil used for both cooking and skincare, but it's the latter (obviously) that we use Argan oil for. It's native to Morocco and Southwest Algeria, where it has been a cornerstone of their traditions. It has a high concentration of vitamin E which promotes skin repair. Argan oil feels light and silky, leaving the skin replenished without the greasy feeling. It even promotes hair and nail health, how could we not use this oil!

Avocado Oil

Although Avocado oil is better known as a healthy cooking oil, its a healthy skin oil as well! It contains tons of antioxidants that may help soothe eczema and psoriasis riddled skin, and it may even prevent acne. Check out products containing this oil, your skin will thank you!

Bakuchi Oil

Bakuchi oil is derived from the seeds of the Babchi plant, it's received a recent spotlight for being a natural retinol alternative. Bakuchi oil has been used in Indian and Chinese alternative medicine for centuries for its health benefits as well. It's best known for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines with out the potential of irritation like retinol. It even brightens skin, improves skin elasticity and texture! We at Velvet Herb absolutely love and cherish this oil, and hope you do too!

Black Seed Oil

Black seed oil has been used for thousands of years by many cultures and ethnic groups such as the ancient Egyptians in Northern Africa, the ancient Greeks in the Mediterranean, and Arabic societies in West Asia, all for good reason too. Black seed oil may have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits that can help with a variety of conditions and illness, but for skin specifically, black seed oil could help with psoriasis and acne, and may even be able to treat vitiligo! Any of our products with black seed oil is a great choice!

Calendula is a lovely golden flower native to the Mediterranean that can both decorate gardens and homes, and decorate your skin with a nourished glow. This herb is best known as an anti-inflammatory, lessening swelling and could even be used to treat wounds. This flower has been used as medicine for centuries, now it's in our lotion to heal your skin!

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter is the fat from cocoa beans that carries a lovely chocolatey aroma. Most cocao trees can be found in West Africa, but they have heritage dating back to the Mesoamerican empires. Cocoa butter is full of fatty acids, which help replenish and moisturize the skin barrier. It's often used to reduce the visibility of scars and wrinkles, with many pregnant women using cocoa butter to reduce pregnancy scars. It's no wonder we gravitate towards this ingredient!

Coconut Oil

For anyone with dry skin, Coconut Oil is the way to go. Coconut oil has been used for thousands of year by many Southeast Asian and Pacific Island civilizations, from its trees to its leaves the fruit itself, all parts of the plant had an use. At Velvet Herb, we just stick with the oil. Coconut Oil is really beneficial in preventing water loss on your skin, keeping your skin moisturized. It's high Linoleic acid content lets coconut oil soothe skin and heal wounds!

It is explicitly permitted by major natural cosmetic standards like COSMOS, ECOCERT, and the Soil Association for certified natural and organic products. We are always searching for more natural preservatives that don't break the bank or lower the shelf life.
